Hey sorry I'm really new to this site and forums so its prob in wrong place, I'm tinkering with the idea of converting a coach, and i love the idea of fitting it out to my style, i don't have a problem with woodwork but where i would come a little stuck would be with fitting things like a hot and cold water system, electrical hook-up, leisure batts and installing the gas system for cooker and water heater, this is daunting to me and it sounds very expensive to get it all installed. does anyone know the approx costs to do all this, ooo and also how had is it to plumb in a thetford toilet system. I'm wanting to do all this as cheaply as possible, any ideas or guide i would be very grateful for.
Just out of interest if i was to buy a coach already converted how much would i be looking at for a reasonable condition one. i know all these questions are very vague sorry many thanks
Stephen

Hi Steve
If you approach all these "problems" logically and one step at a time they become much easier to visualise and then do.
Water start with tank run flexible pipework to an "on demand" pump run pipe out fit Y pce from one leg go to cold taps and from the othe leg run to water heater from water heater run pipes to hot water taps splitting as needed.
For the 12v supply to the above, it only requires a Positive and negative from the battery, you would want 1 inline fuse sized for the pumps ampage and a switch so that in the event of a leak you can shut the pump down.
Thetford cassette only requires 2 wires and an inline fuse (as several items will need fuses its a good idea to get a prefabbed fuse board keeps all the fuses neat and in one place) thetfords only rarely have a flush system connected to your water tank, most have a small built in flush tank that you fill seperately.
Virtually every system can be treated like this, however if you are unsure on gas and electric do get a professional to check over your work.
Electricians and Gas fitters will charge a fortune to fit unless you are friends.
Price on conversion's that's like asking how much is a car, best bet is to watch ebay and see the quality (or otherwise) of the conversions on offer and watch the prices.
I have seen a self build that was in profit by the time he had finished.
He bought a lorry that needed moving (hence very cheap) it was loaded with packaging which he proceeded to sell.
He was being asked to help people take stuff to tip, due to having a lorry, which led to.....
Bed was a studio bed settee (virtually unused from a friends guest room) that was going to be thrown out. cooker was household type second hand (domestic cookers usually come with a jet conversion kit to enable LPG use) kitchen units were going to skip too.....
Full domestic shower cubicle, same as above and so it went on he was being paid to collect bits for his conversion....
Heating was via cab eberspacher simply pumbed through to the rear Box.
Initially the fridge was a 2 way from a free caravan.
one window was a sunroof from a scrap car two others from the caravan
All hand painted outside and got to say it didnt look bad and all worked well.

Hi, I have a 1986 Leylander Olympian double decker, we want to convert the downstairs into a kitchen area (stainless steel) and seating upstairs. Cannot find anyone who is not trying to rip my wallet apart. Can anyone help and if it's you who can call me at work on 01285868111 Les. Please no funny calls as it is a military base that can check on any number. Thanks
