Anyone got any trips planned yet? I am looking forward to getting away in red dragon bus when the weather gets a little warmer, I'm thinking about installing a solid fuel stove? We were up on Skye in October, they've scrapped the bridge tolls now so we might take another run up there this year? I did a circumnavigation of Scotland in my transit a few years ago, might be interesting doing the same again in the bus. Loads of nice single track roads in the North West of Scotland.

Don't mention the single track roads - it's taken me nearly 4 months to convince the better-half to go back out in George after nearly getting pushed off the road on Rannoch Moor by a half-baked driver in one of those long Eurocruiser coaches. I wonder if he got sacked when his boss saw the rear end opened up like a tin of beans? ;D Anyway, we sat down with a glass of wine (or three) last night and had a look at the maps and campsite books. She has always wanted to have a look at the Lake District so we are thinking of a run down there in March. Thinking we could overnight (possibly two if we like it) somewhere in the Coldstream area then head over to the west and the lakes for a couple of nights. We also want to look up a couple of friends in Dumfries so we will probably have a night or two there. Our last trip out was Edinburgh - Aberdeen (Lower Deeside) - Inverness - Glen Nevis (Fort William) - Edinburgh. We left with a full tank and still had just under half when we got back. I can't remember the exact figures (got it all written down somewhere) but I figured it would have cost the same if I had towed the caravan on the same route. We are also looking at a week starting at Oban and touring up the west coast from there. Don't know about Skye Jonathan, last time we went to Benbecula we stopped over in a hotel on Skye (about 5 minutes drive from the ferry terminal), and would you belive it, it was a "Wee Free" hotel - no bar I also have to remember my promise to her indoors - as little driving on narrow roads as possible Will keep you posted. Regards, Jim

They've abolished the tolls on the Skye bridge ;D ;D I had an arguement with an artic on my last trip north. So the next artic I met had no choice but to stop as I was blocking the road. If they won't slow down through sense, they will slow down through neccessity.
