Hi all So, when were tachographs introduced? My old Bedford (1980) had one as standard it seemed - and I've seen old VAL's that are fresh from service that have them retro-fitted. But my 1961 Yeoman doesn't seem to have ever had a tachograph fitted - so I guess it left service before they were introduced. I seem to remember something about their introduction when I was a kid (but I mean about 5 and my memory's poor...) so maybe someone on here knows the date? As an aside - if your tachograph has the speedo needle stuck at 130mph... (or whatever) and when you wind it back by hand to the stop it just goes back to maximum as soon as you turn on the ignition, then try putting an old tachograph sheet in the back. This may sound daft - but I had an Iveco a couple of years ago that I had this problem with, and chanced upon this cure. Adam

Tachographs are not required on all buses, a service bus which never does private hire work doesnt need a tachograph so many service buses simply do not have tachographs.
