I used to own a bus, a Bedford Plaxton Panorama Elite II, and I did with it what probably many here would like to, converted it to a mobile home, and drove it to India (and back!).
It was far more reliable than pretty much anything else we saw, which was everything from 6 wheel drive Russian army trucks, German fire engines, Bristol Deckers, Pinzgauers, through to ubiquitous Merc vans. Anyhoo, it came home in one piece, albeit lacking a glass windscreen and half the rear screen too, and I was forced to sell it. It's been sat for several years, and the guy has done nothing with it. I'm now going to try to buy it back - it just means too much to me not to.
Here is the trouble, I used to insure it with CIS, but I understand they just won't do it anymore. Does anyone here know who will? It's replated to a motor caravan.

Adrian Flux apparently, I am still using CIS myself? But I've had my policy a few years??

Maybe I need to try again. We heard just before leaving for India (1998) that CIS were shutting it down, and when we tried to arrange insurance (from afar) for our return to England, it was no go. But surely worth another try now. I've used Flux for a VW camper and a Beetle Convertible since, so they might be worth a go. Real buggers when it comes to paying out though (Beetle got torched ). Thanks for the info.

I only get insurance because it's a legal requirement. I would not waste my money otherwise.
