My advice is, keep this simple. Your bus will be 24 volt, with two parrallell batteries. Get two more, but make them deep discharge leisure batteries - not cheap, but worth it.
You can arrange these so that they will charge from the alternator, and you should, that way on a longer trip, they'll get charged as you drive. You could also get a ZIG panel, but we just installed a battery charger in a cupboard, a big one with plenty of current. We then built a switching system so that this could charge any of our batteries (d**ned useful if your traction batteries die), and we found that if we left it on trickle charge when plugged in, we got good constant 12v for the lights and pump. We also installed various 240v sockets, and when plugged in, used those too.
If, however, you're going somewhere where there will be no hookups, you want the max charging you can, so ideally you want some solar, which will at least trickle charge you, and can again rescue you if your traction batteries get flattened.

Hi there for my conv, im using a set of forklift batteries which fit nicely into an atlanteans battery box, with an inverter on that, i think thatout to last! just using another set of normal batteries for the engine and a spit charger when im going along. food for thought...
